NEW DELHI: The Nationwide Catastrophe Response Drive (NDRF) has deployed 50 groups in Gujarat for evacuation and rescue operations in view of the landfall of “extraordinarily extreme” cyclone Tauktae on Monday night. Greater than 1.5 lakh individuals have been evacuated from the coastal districts.
The NDRF director normal, SN Pradhan, has mentioned that as per inputs acquired from the meteorological division, Gujarat may have the largest affect of the cyclone. Pradhan tweeted photos of his NDRF groups engaged in evacuation of villagers in Gir Somnath, Dwarka and Kutch areas of Gujarat.
The NDRF has deployed 101 groups throughout six states — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat. — which have been affected by the Tauktae cyclone. Among the groups are engaged in restoration drives in Goa the place the cyclone had devastated electrical poles and uprooted bushes disrupting energy and water provides.
